Areiti

Areiti is a Sun Fiz 40' by Jeanneau, built in 1980.

With a maximum beam of 3.85 m and headroom ranging from 1.95 m at the entrance to 1.84 m at the forward cabin access, it's immediately clear that spaciousness is not an issue on the Sun Fizz.

In terms of comfort, this boat also takes a step forward with standard equipment including a refrigerator, pressurized water system, shower bilge pump, manual and electric bilge pumps, extractor hood. This sailboat certainly has plenty to offer.

Meanwhile, the wide-angle chart table seems sure to satisfy even the most demanding sailor. Lockers, a pre-shaped U-shaped seat, side storage for charts, a pen holder, etc... nothing is missing. The interior of the Sun Fizz benefits from the shipyard's high standards of finish. Light beige fabrics alternate with small black wooden slats, giving the whole a very pleasing touch.

At the helm of the Sun Fizz, transitioning into waves is almost always smooth and effortless. The helmsman can focus on sail trim instead of being preoccupied with how to handle the waves. The designer has clearly prioritized balance and clean lines, resulting in a naturally elegant feel.

The helm is incredibly smooth; it never felt heavy, even in slight gusts where, quite obviously, we were overpowered. What's more, it proves remarkably precise and, given a little breathing room, it's ready to lengthen its stride, for it has power to spare. There's no doubt about it, this is fast cruising! The Briand-designed hull lives up to expectations; it moves forward, it glides, leaving a swallow's wake.

The deck layout of the Sun Fizz is both functional and very open. Wide side decks, shrouds sufficiently inboard, and excellent non-slip surfaces all contribute to making maneuvers easy. Around the base of the mast, a safety railing allows the crew to work comfortably.

I bought Areiti in Panama in November 2025 and left Panama to sail to Guatemala to start a new step in discovering Central America and the Carribeans
